Next happyning : Trip to Nowhere (1)
Fri, 21 Jun
|In front of the entrance IKEA Süd
Get Lost 4 times and find what you were Never Looking for: a Swedish Moghul, a Brewery turned Farm, a Pagan Bull and a Settlement for XY
Time & Location
21 Jun 2019, 14:00 – 18:00
In front of the entrance IKEA Süd, Sachsendamm 47, 10829 Berlin, Germany
About the event
Even though most of us have already been there – even frequently – to buy a Billy bookcase or a Stockholm rug, this area is usually off the radar. It has no major attractions or photogenic sites, no fancy cafes, stylish shopping venues or scenic views, and there is hardly a reason to go there except from the Swedish furniture giant and the adjacent DIY shop.
A perfect destination for a Happy tourists “Trip to nowhere”.
Happy tourists invite you to get lost in the neighbourhood south of IKEA Süd, and track the extraordinary behind the ordinary.
A set of experiences will (mis)guide you in unexpected ways, leading you in places that you were never looking for: a neighbourhood as unfamiliar as it gets, which might reveal itself rich in architectural idiosyncrasies, cultural strongholds, bizarre pagan myths and glacial remains shaping the urban landscape:
Let yourself drift behind the parking lot, from Malzfabrik and Schöneberger Südgelände to Albuin-Platz and Bruno Taut’s Lindenhof Estate, and hear the stories of the neighbourhood from local experts and the Happy Tourist team.
Attendance is free of charge but donations are most appreciated.
Meeting point in front of the entrance of IKEA under the flags.
